Biography:
José Antonio García Naya was born in A Coruña in June 1981. He studied Computer Engineering at the University of A Coruña, Spain, where he obtained his degree “Ingeniero en Informática” in 2005 and, in 2010, his Ph.D. degree with the distinction “Doctor with European Mention” for the dissertation “Testbed Design for Wireless Communications Systems Assessment”, co-advised by Dr. Luis Castedo Ribas (University of A Coruña), and Dr. Markus Rupp (Vienna University of Technology). Since 2005 he is with the Group of Electronic Technology and Communications (GTEC) at the Department of Computer Engineering, University of A Coruña. In 2008 he was a recipient of a “María Barbeito” post-degree grant from the Galician Government. He has been Assistant Professor (professor Axudante LOU) at the University of A Coruña from october 2008 until october 2011. Currently, he is Associate Professor (profesor Contratado Doctor) at the University of A Coruña.
Between 2008 and 2009, and later on between 2010 and 2011 he was at the Institute of Telecommunications at the Vienna University of technology, under the supervision of Dr. Markus Rupp. His research tasks at the Vienna University of Technology have focused on the experimental evaluation of the physical layer performance of wireless communication standards such as UMTS HSDPA, WiMAX, and LTE in realistic urban scenarios in downtown Vienna.
José Antonio is member of the editorial board of the EURASIP Journal on Adanvances in Signal Processing. He is also frequent reviewer of IEEE as well as EURASIP Journals. He is also member of the IEEE and the EURASIP. His research interests are in the field of digital communications, with special emphasis on the assessment of wireless communication systems with multiple antennas and multiple users in realistic scenarios, including high-speed communications.
